Bugger it's back to the Grind.....

Good evening good people of the blogasphere,

It's been a grand few days away from it all with reasonable weather, simple but great tasting food, the quaffing of several draughts of the finest ale, some DIY, some walking, visits to some wonderful places and even some learning. So much so that I am just about bloody well knackered and not really ready for tomorrows 6 am shift start. So instead of me waxing lyrically about our adventures of the last few days (too brief a time I'm sure) I'll just post some pictures for your perusal and hope that you don't mind my bone idleness in this matter.

We're back....

Red Kites at Gigrin Farm

'Irish Pete' trying to educate me........as if!

I hope that the above pictures gave you some inkling about our last few days whilst away from the Grind and the keyboard, apologies for the lack of words but with my body wilting and the affects of a few glasses of wine, not my usual tipple but hey I can be posh - honest, the words refuse to flow so for the time being a visual treat is all that I have to offer.

Thanks for taking the time to peruse thus far.

As always, your friend,

John

I see no reasons for apologies. It seems that time was enjoyed while you were away.

I must say that I absolutely ♥ the pictures of the fog/mist.

Glad you are back, sorry it has to be back to the grind. =(

Hey you! I'm not sure I can actually blame you but...you have cost me MONEY! ha ha. After enjoying views of your walks with the pooch, I decided I needed to invest in a better camera for my walks with the hound! So I am blaming you...and with such lovely photos as the ones you have just shown me then I am happy I've made a good choice.
Hope you all enjoyed the break and don't work too hard tomorrow. x

Jez I’ve only just posted and you lot are commenting already! It feels as if I have not been away. Guess I’d better start with my usual replies then….

BM,
Glad to be back as well me dear, to be in touch with such a vibrant and happy soul such as yourself across the pond makes my blathering worth while, glad that you enjoyed the pictures.

Hello Megan,
Firstly welcome to my musings, I can only hope that I live up to the recommendation from Claire. Oh and I’ll pass on your remarks to the bog monster aka Lucy.

Hi Claire,
Now you cannot possibly hold me responsible for the outlay of your cash, after all I’m just a point and clicker and have been pretty lucky so far with the snaps. Looking forward to your pictures, I’m sure that they will be far better than my own snap shots. Oh and as for tomorrow, me thinks that I’ll be having a sore head due to an over indulgence in wine tonight – bugger.

Regards to all,

John

love the photo essay - lots of varying light qualities in those pictures. Looks like time well spent.

Question - is it common to have so mnay kites in one area at one time? Are they migrating and catching the thermals for their trip south? Thats about the only time we see raptors in groups.

Good pics John, never seen so many kites in one place before!

Hello John. Welcome back. Thanks for the photo tour. Hope you had enough time to rest your weary buns before going back to the "grind". Always enjoyable reading your musings.

Now John don't be so modest, your photos are pretty splendid. The best camera in the world won't stop you getting your thumb in the way or cropping off peoples heads. Cheap or not you certainly have an eye for a shot.

Sorry about the early shift, if it's any help as a insomniac I am normally awake around 5 anyway, I'll not be at work or getting up but I will be awake.

Glad you and the lady enjoyed the time together though.

Looks like you all had a wonderful time. Hope you're feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Love the pics, especially the one with Lucy against the sky background. That one simply rocks!

Take care my friend,

Those are by far some of the prettiest shots I have seen! Beautiful!!!! The pics of the pines are absolutely breath taking John! I can only imagine what it must have felt like standing there in the middle of such beauty.

Hello John, happy to see you back on the blog scene. I enjoyed your picture parade of the time while you were away. Very nice and thanks for sharing. Sorry that work, unfortunately, binds all of us to reality. Otherwise, we all would never be home. We would all be meandering.

Hi John, Looks like you had a great time on vacation. Hope you feel refreshed and going back to the grind won't be too hard. Nice pics, and of course my favorite is Lucy peaking over the rail in that first pic. Nice scenery too....I'm just a little partial to the furry ones.
Nice to have you back!

Hi Wolfy and Keith,
No it’s not common for so many Kites to be in the one area, indeed the Red Kite was nearly completely wiped out as ‘vermin’ in the UK not so many years ago with Wales & Scotland being the only places you may have caught an occasional glimpse of this majestic raptor. These are wild kites in mid Wales and are fed every day at the same time at Gigrin farm. What started off as six adults in the early nineties numbers now reache in excess of 500 birds at one session in the winter. With such minded people the kite has been brought back from the edge and is now spreading its wings over a large part of Wales and into England as well, for more info just click upon the link below the 3 Kite pictures.

Hi Mark,
Buns rested, but after one day back at ‘the coal face’ it seems that I’ve not been away.

Ah up Damn,
Cheers for the compliments, I am trying to improve my pictures but getting close to anything furry or feathered is still eluding me! Ahh the early morning starts are a killer but one more tomorrow and then the dreaded ghost shifts, ho hum.

Hey Bob,
Get the heating, start on the chocolate biscuits and believe me she’s happy to be home.

Kari,
That’s my favourite pick out of these; guess what game she was playing?

Leigh,
Your just to kind me dear, and yes just standing amongst trees like these cannot be expressed in a photograph simply put it just felt that’s where I belong.

Hi Mel,
Well at least ‘the grind’ keeps the wolf from the door (not you Wolfy, you’d always be welcome at our hearth), and getting out to places like these really does put things into a balance of sorts.

Karen,
Thank you for dropping by and for the kind words, I like the Lucy pictures best truth be told.
